In my opinion, the highlight of this new update is the new brush feature, which allows you to tap on a part of the image and have a brush active that sweeps across the area where you had tapped. This is made possible with a new algorithm that detects what you have tapped and sweeps across the image to apply the paint. The strokes are unique and don’t contain any random elements. This is a nice feature that makes it easy for you to fine-tune certain areas of the image, without the need to recreate the look of the area, or the tedious task of lifting each and every brush and put it back where you have placed it.
Sorry guys, this is my review for the version released today. The significant release will be PS CC that has been posted a few days ago. This review is about the update included in Version 5.1.9.
I already reviewed the raw features in this version, so I will just come back to the brushes. All the raw features are still definitely a step up the ladder, so no need to read this review again. But I have not upgraded yet.
When using batch, I would like to offer a few additional workflow options, such as saving the original file, and another version with the effect applied. This would especially be helpful to me, since I take screenshots quite often.
So this is kind of a minor suggestion, but just thought I’d share it. I would like to see a way to format comments and information in the original image like it is possible in the raw tab. That is actually what I do most of the time.
